A letter arrived from a lady who was living in Oxford. She
asked if we could find out who a particular house belonged to in Devon. After a
short conversation with her we found out the reason she would like to know who
lived in this particular house was that she believed it belonged to her
estranged husband. When her husband had left her he claimed he had no money or
assets and that he was completely penniless and therefore unable to give her
any money to help towards her children’s upbringing.
It became apparent to Private Detective Oxford through
speaking to some of his relatives that he had in fact inherited one of the
fishermen’s cottages that overlooked the Bay in a popular holiday resort in
Devon. The cottage was very old and it was becoming increasingly difficult to
find out any information about who it belonged to. Our client had been to the
local library and the local council offices to see if there were any documents
relating to this cottage or even any of the other cottages in the road. She had
drawn a blank.
We said that we could help her with her problem. We decided
the best course of action would be to go and visit the cottages and talk to
people living there to find out if they had any more clues as to who owned the
mystery cottage. From the visit we found out that all the cottages were
originally owned by the local landowner. We traced the local landowner and
discovered from the archives that the cottage in question had been left in a
will by the landowner to one of our client’s husband’s relations. It has
recently been left to her husband in the will of the last owner and this is
what the relations were talking about. As a body had been able to contact her
husband he had been totally unaware of this he had been unaware of this.
Our client has now asked us to perform another investigation
into the whereabouts of her estranged husband.
